Frequently asked questions

Is my dog suitable for home boarding?

We're happy to accept any dog over the age of six months (as long as their breed is not listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act). However as they will be boarding in our home all dogs will be need to be house and toilet trained and of a non destructive nature (i.e. will not chew furniture etc.).

Who will my dog be staying with?

Your dog will be staying with me (Lisa), my husband Mike and our dog Tia. There will also be up to four other boarders staying at our cottage. Although all boarders can be kept seperate, there will be a level/ periods of interaction throughout the day, dogs therefore need to be of a sociable nature.

We do not allow dogs to sleep in our bedroom (not even ours), so if your dog is used to sleeping with you, please consider how they will react to sleeping in a different environment. We strongly suggest you trial this at home before booking a stay.

Is this similar to a boarding kennel?

No, we offer home from home from home comforts! Your dog will be cared for and will sleep in our cottage for the duration of their stay. Rest assured there are no kennels or any outside sleeping involved!

What does my dog need to bring?

Your dog will need to bring enough food for their stay and that's it - we will provide everything else! You are of course welcome to bring your dogs own bed, toys or anything else you think will make their stay more comfortable. However please note this at your own risk, as there will be other boarders staying, therefore damage may occur!

If your dog takes any medication, please ensure that you bring this with you and provide details on your booking form.

How often do you walk my dog?

We will always take your dog on a morning and afternoon/ evening walk, to ensure they receive enough exercise. In addition they will have the opportunity to play in our fully enclosed garden.

Where do you walk the dogs?

We will take your dog on some lovely walks, many of which are on our doorstep, including Marshalls and Salthouse Fields, which are great for a game of chase. Poets Walk and the riverbank are also nearby, with additional walks such as Clevedon Court Woods and Ladye Bay within easy reach.

With your permission, we may occasionally go further afield to places like Ashton Court and Leigh Woods in Bristol, as well as the Strawberry Line in Yatton.

My dog gets travel sick, will he be taken out in your car?

No, as long as you provide us with this information on your booking form. We will ensure we only take them on local walks.

My dog is too old to go on long walks, can you still look after them?

Absolutely! We can tailor the care we provide to their needs, just let us know when you book with us.

My dog is a puppy, can you still look after them?

Due to the conditions of my license, unfortunately I am unable to board any puppies under six months old. As they are unable to be boarded with any other dogs.

Do I have to bring my dogs food or do you provide it?

It is always best for your dog to eat what they are used to, as this limits the likelihood of them getting an upset tummy! If required, we can feed your dog for a small additional fee of £1 per day.

For day care boarders we will assume that your dog has already been fed prior to arrival and will be after collection. However if you need us to feed them for you, the above applies.

What time can we drop our dogs off/ pick them up?

Our opening times are daily between 08:00 and 18:00. We will try and be as flexible as we can to accomadate you. To help us to do this please give us an idea of what time you will be aiming to drop off and pick up your dog, we can then plan our walks.

Will you be able to collect/ return my dog to my house?

This may be possible, for an extra charge, please contact us to discuss.
